GETTING STARTED: Becoming a member
•Click on “become a member”. You’ll find it under the navigation on the upper left of our home page under “Comment, blog &share photos”
•Choose a screen name (at least six characters and no spaces) and fill in a few other fields to get signed up.
•Check your e-mail for a confirmation with your registration information. Click on the link in the e-mail to start your http://www.marcoislandflorida.com experience.
•If you don’t receive an e-mail response within 10 minutes, go back to our home page at http://www.marcoislandflorida.com, click on “Become a member”, fill out the form again and then at the bottom, choose “Did not get your confirmation email? SEND NOW”
Personalize your page
•You should see a personal greeting on the http://www.marcoislandflorida.com homepage. Click on update profile underneath your screen name.
•Click on the profile button.
•Answer a few questions about yourself if you want or you can leave them blank.
•Choose an avatar from the list or select your own by browsing to your desktop.
•Choose whether you want to allow only “friends” or “everyone” to leave you messages.
•Decide whether you want to receive an e-mail when someone sends you a message and click on your choice.
•Click the “Save” button at the bottom of the page.
Post a photo or photo gallery
• Click on “Post photos” under your personal greeting or click on the photo tab when you’re on your personal page. You get to your personal page by clicking on your avatar.
•Click on “create a new gallery”. It’s next to “My Galleries”
•Give your gallery a name. You can also give it a description and some tag words if you like. Tag words can help you better organize or find your galleries later. For example, you could give a tag word of “vacation” to all your vacation photos.
•Click on Add photos and browse to your photos.
•Choose upload when you’re finished adding all your photos.
•Provide cutlines and any other information.
•Click the “Submit” button at the bottom of the page.
•Then click on “View gallery” to see what you’ve created.
•You can also edit your photo gallery or add photos this way.
Write a blog
•Click on the “blog” tab on your personal page.
•Go to the Blog Settings page and give your blog a title, a tagline and an image (optional).
•Click on the save button at the bottom of the page.
•Then, click on “write new post” and enter your first blog post.
•Now you’re blogging!
