Attracting 14 people from all walks of life, the 2010 Leadership Marco program got under way on Wednesday with an ice-breaker and team building session on nearby Keewaydin Island.
The program is under the auspices of the Marco Island Area Chamber of Commerce.
Participants will attend sessions every other week for the next three months to learn about all aspects of the island, including city government, schools, the media, history and the environment.
Starting the first week in August, the Sun Times will begin a series of profiles on the participants.
They will talk about why they joined the program, what they look forward to learning about the most, and how they envisage the Marco of the future.
