Eight people were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a crash between a truck and a LeeTran bus at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Sabal Palm boulevards in Fort Myers.

The truck driver, six passengers and a woman trying to get on the bus, were taken to the hospital. None suffered life-threatening injuries, according to Ben Abes with Lee County EMS.

Emergency crews did have to use the jaws of life to remove the driver from the truck.

Traffic is flowing again on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., but a heavy smell of diesel fuel lingers in the area of Sabal Palm Blvd.

Units were dispatched to the scene at 10:24 a.m.
