A homicide investigation is under way in Fort Myers after a man was found dead of a gunshot wound.
Fort Myers police have identified the man shot and killed this morning as 35-year-old Robert Raybon Jr.
The shooting occurred in front of a residence at 1443 Bert Drive, off Michigan Avenue.
Police have placed close to a dozen evidence markers on the street and in the front yard of the residence.
The initial call came in at about 5 a.m.
This brings the total number of homicides within the city limits to 23 for 2012. The actual number of persons killed in Fort Myers this year is 24, but one shooting death was deemed accidental by police.
