Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help on what has been ruled a homicide in Lehigh Acres.
On Monday evening, Christmas Eve, a man walking in the area of Hedgewood Street and Meadow Road in Lehigh saw what he thought was human remains but it was too dark out to be sure, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said.
The man returned on Christmas, positively identified the remains as human and contacted the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
Saturday the remains were identified as those of Gregory Cameo Mathews, 26, of Fort Myers, and his death was ruled a homicide. No additional information on the murder was available.
Mathews was known as “Bam,” and investigators are hoping the public can provide information on his murder.
