The price for a regular gallon of gas has risen 7 cents from a week ago in the Fort Myers-Cape Coral metro area. The average price is $3.36, up from $3.29 a week ago, according to AAA's Oil Price Information Service/Wright Express.

In Naples, the average price of gas is $3.45, up from $3.40 a week ago.

Southwest Florida is poised to close 2012 with gas prices 4 cents higher than on New Year's Eve 2011.

Across the state, the average price of gas rose 8 cents to $3.36, up from $3.28 a week ago. Nationally, the average price of gas is $3.29, up 4 cents from $3.25 a week ago.
