A North Fort Myers woman was critically injured late Friday in a crash that the Florida Highway Patrol says was caused by one of its own.
Crystal Crawford-McClure, 28, was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Christopher McClure. Their 1-year-old son was also in the car.
According to FHP, their vehicle was southbound on Interstate 75 between Colonial Boulevard and Daniels Parkway when Trooper Gustavo Reyes, 47, struck the rear of their vehicle, causing McClure to lose control. The vehicle overturned, coming to rest on its roof on the shoulder of the road.
Crawford-McClure was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital in critical condition. Her condition this afternoon is unavailable.
Christopher McClure and the couple’s child suffered minor injuries. Reyes was uninjured.
FHP says charges are pending further investigation.
