Agave Grill margarita. / Special to The News-Press
As you know, Friday is National Margarita Day. I expect everyone to celebrate.
• Lozano’s (3020 Lee Blvd., Lehigh Acres, and 405 E. New Market Road, Immokalee; lozanosmexican.com): Margaritas here are cheap, simple and boozy. The perfect companions for barbecoa tacos and giant chimichangas.
• Los Cabos Cantina (2226 First St., Fort Myers; 332-2226; facebook.com/LosCabosCantinaTequilaBar): The food here has improved since my not-so-favorable review last month. But the margaritas – infused with cool cucumbers and fiery chile peppers – remain the stars of the show.
• Cinco Amigos Mexican Cantina (547 Pine Island Road, North Fort Myers; 656-1388; mycincoamigos.com): House margaritas start at $5.50, and small here translates into gigante. Flavors include mango and strawberry, though they all kick like a burro.
• Cantina Laredo (5200 Big Pine Way, Fort Myers; 415-4424; cantinalaredo.com): A bowl of tableside guacamole and a Mango Mint Gingerita or a Perfect Patron Rita and you’ll be having a good night.
• Agave Southwestern Grill (2380 Vanderbilt Beach Road, North Naples; 598-3473; agavenaples.com): Agave’s tequila list rivals most restaurants wine lists. Pick your favorite, then watch as it’s mixed with fresh, local strawberries and basil. Delicioso.
