A former Naples resident killed in a Black Hawk helicopter crash in southern Afghanistan on March 11 will be laid to rest this morning in Naples.

Staff Sgt. Marc Scialdo, 31, served in the U.S. Army. He is the 14th Southwest Floridian killed in Afghanistan since 2002.

The media will not be able to attend today's funeral, Fort Stewart Georgia Army spokesman Kevin Larson said. The family doesn't want to speak to the media.

About 50 soldiers from Georgia and other states will be in attendance.

"It's your battle buddy," Larson said. "It's someone you know. It's hard to lose a soldier."
