For the first time in 20 years Taste of the Town is leaving downtown Fort Myers.

The 31-year-old food festival and fundraiser for the Junior League of Fort Myers and its charities will take place at JetBlue Park Nov. 3.

Organizers said the new locale offers more parking, and more convenient access for those coming from Naples and Bonita Springs.

“Our new partnership with Fenway South is very exciting,” said Junior League president Nicole Brenner. “It represents a great opportunity to grow our event."

Admission to the event will remain $5 with children 12 and under free. Before moving to downtown Fort Myers, Taste of the Town had been held at the Alliance for the Arts, and at the Edison College campus.

The event began in the early 1980s as a public picnic, called “The French Picnic,” in which Junior League members prepared and served all the food. Since then, Taste of the Town has developed into an event that brings an average of 10,000 guests from all over Southwest Florida.

“Our facilities provide a convenient, all-in-one venue for the Junior League that will allow Taste of the Town to attract a larger number of vendors and attendees to help this event grow and raise the most possible funds for the Junior League’s work in the community,” said Katie Haas, senior director of Florida business operations for the Red Sox. “We are very excited to be partnering on this signature event that raises funds to improve our community through the Junior League’s programs and services.”
