Fort Myers police say the father of one of the suspects charged with murder in the Thursday shooting death of a Chinese food delivery driver is the person who ordered the food.

Henry Leonard, 35, told investigators Zhi Wei Huang, 23, who worked at Tung Hing restaurant, was delivering food to their apartment.

Leonard and another witness identified as Melissa Miller, 19, said after the food was delivered, they heard three gunshots and went outside to find Huang lying on the ground. He later died from his injuries.

Miller told investigators she then called 911. Witnesses at the complex said they heard six shots fired.

Eddie Leonard, 16, and Dejerion Jamar Stewart, 17, were charged Saturday with the murder.

Both were in court for their first appearance Monday where Judge Nick Thompson ordered them to remain in juvenile detention until their next hearing July 24.

According to WINK News, Leonard said nothing during his hearing.

Both boys’ parents were in court Monday but would not comment. The judge ordered them not to have any contact with each other or the victim’s family.

Huang took orders, cooked and made deliveries for Tung Hing restaurant on Fowler Street.

He came to the United States from China three years ago.
