A man was killed in a shooting tonight at Palm Vista Apartments in Fort Myers.
Police, who are calling the shooting a homicide, responded to a call of shots fired at 3742 Central Ave. just after 9:30 p.m., according to Lt. Victor Medico. They found a deceased man at an apartment in the complex.
A crowd of family and friends gathered at the crime scene, which was blocked off with yellow tape. Several women were sobbing as they begged police for information about the victim's condition.
A visibly pregnant woman in the crowd suffered a medical issue unrelated to tonight's shooting and was transported to the hospital, Medico said.
The shooting appears to be an isolated incident and Palm Vista residents should not feel threatened, Medico said.
Police remain at the crime scene and are talking to witnesses. Medico said he could not release any information on possible suspects.
