Q: Iím hosting my annual Halloween party, but my kitchen renovation is behind schedule. Any suggestions for casual caterers for a party of 20 near downtown?
Geanne, Fort Myers
A: For casual and good, Iím thinking barbecue. Smokeín Pit Bar B Que (1641 N. Tamiami Trail, North Fort Myers; 997-7982) is just over the Edison Bridge. I love the Pitís baked beans. Deep Down South BBQ (2916 Fowler St., Fort Myers; 332-1227; deepdownsouthbbq.com) is a shade closer, and the classically trained chef/owner makes great Ďcue. For something a tad healthier check out Gwendolynís Cafe (2400 First St., Fort Myers; 791-8462; gwendolynscafe.com). Itís not barbecue, but it is great sandwiches, salads and soups, all scratch-made Ė in her kitchen, not yours.
