The Landings is gearing up for a tennis exhibition from 1-2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 12.
While details are still being worked out, it is known that Mikael Pernfors and Tobias Svantesson will play.
“It’s a fun event we’re putting on for our club,” said director Paul D’Amico. “We had the opportunity to do it, so we took it.”
D’Amico has known Pernfors from various fundraisers, including Madisen’s Match.
“He’s a nice guy,” said D’Amico. “I’ve met him several times.”
Pernfors, winner of three career titles, reached the French Open final in 1986 before losing to then No. 1 Ivan Lendl. A former David Cup player for Sweden, Pernfors reached No. 10 in the world and had victories over Boris Becker, Andre Agassi, John McEnroe, Todd Martin, Mats Wilander, Pete Sampras, Stefan Edberg and Jim Courier, among others throughout his career.
Svantesson, who is also from Sweden, had most of his success in doubles play, winning two titles and ranking No. 64 in the world at one point.
He holds victories over Becker, Wilander, Martin, Patrick McEnroe, Jimmy Connors and yes, Pernfors.
Spectators will be welcome. Please call The Landings at 482-0515 for details.
