The SWFL Citizens Alliance is partnering with local organizations to host four Collier County School Board candidate forums, including a forum on Monday night on Marco Island.

Eight candidates have committed to participate Monday night at the Marco Island History Museum, 180 S Heathwood Drive.

Doors open for a meet and greet at 6:15 p.m. Forum starts at 6:55 p.m.

"We are reaching out to all voters to vote and stay informed," said Keith Flaugh of Marco Island, speaking for the alliance. "Our goal is to educate the public on the candidate's positions on a multitude of subjects ranging from school board governance and federal programs, to curriculum/student performance, campus environment and finance/budget issues that absorb 48 percent of your property tax dollars."

The primary election to be held on Aug. 26 is non-partisan.

Absentee ballots will be sent out July 23.

Each venue will have two moderators and three will also include a high school student from a local school as comoderator.

June 23, Marco Island History Museum. Moderator: Jared Grifoni and student Marcus Daffner.

June 25, Agriculture Center, Collier County U of FL campus. Moderators: Joe Whitehead and Ismael Hernandez.

July 17, Naples First Baptist Church, Moderators: Stephanie Susskind and student Cameron Absher.

July 22, Covenant Church in Naples, Moderators: Rick Borman and parent or student moderator TBD.

Times: Each forum is from 7- 8:30 p.m.

The moderators will ask questions of the candidates originating from three sources: a questionnaire, themselves and the attending audience.
