I've held off writing this LTE hoping that someone who has served as a foreign service officer or staff at one or more American embassies more recently than me would step forward to explain the facts about what embassy personnel face while serving our country overseas. Last Saturday evening I had the privilege to be invited to a retirement party for Captain Dean Heasley of the Marco Island Fire Department. Dean was a 32 year veteran of our department and as a servant to our community.
While he will no longer be guiding the city through turbulent times our friend is not leaving his beloved island. I use the term “our friend” because he has been and continues to be involved in the betterment of our city. Our friend is none other than James Riviere who has given much of his retirement serving on various boards and committees prior to accepting the position of city manager.
But Capri should do it on its own terms, not have it forced by Collier County.
Gentlemen, with the resignation of our City Manager, will you please have the wisdom and foresight to hire a 'PROFFESIONAL' replacement. Thank you for your cooperation.
