BACKWATER

Unseasonal warmth punctuated by weak fronts continues. Another one late this period that fouls water clarity. Water temp at 69-72; 10 degrees above norm. Tides unusually weak; a.m. outgoing less than 1’ range; p.m. a bit better. Warmth draws summerlike action on mangrove snapper. To good size most mangrove edges Addison Bay coves, ICW creeks, Keewaydin docks on tad of shrimp; both tides. Sheepshead action strange; few to keeper size then legions of runts; full scale spawn on hold. Spec trout action holding good: Calhoun Channel to Rookery Bay working shrimp under a popper in 4-6’ flats over seagrass.

NEARSHORE

Positive conditions here before late week blow. First signs pelagic action; mackerel in mix with little tunny (bonita) working bait schools off beach. Walton Reef for some harvest size sheepshead on shrimp, cut crabs on vertical lift.

OFFSHORE

Unusual seasonal pattern now. Warmth seems to be holding pelagics here vice in Keys. Look for deep wrecks with bait to have cobia, kingfish, permit action. Action with live bait worked mid depth under chum on both tides. As usual red grouper action solid. Need 50-60’ hard bottom (20-plus miles) working live pinfish, threadfin tight to outcroppings.
