BACKWATER

Winds ease slightly but tides go virtually non-existent early week both ways. Water stays clean with easterly wind pattern and no frontal action. Water temp moves up slightly to circa 73. Overall action spotty with just a few mega sheepshead left showing as season ends. Look for a resurgence of pompano action Capri, Hurricane, Caxambas passes first hour incoming working small tipped jigs to bottom on drift. Chance few mackerel, bluefish in the mix. Black drum have taken up the slack in weak sheepshead season. Deeper holes Addison, Rookery, Johnson Bays with shrimp worked slowly across bottom. Mangrove snapper action heating up on mangrove edges with shrimp on lindy rig.

NEARSHORE

Watch your timing; weak tides will shut down bite here also. Watch for bird action as telltale for pelagics presence. Mackerel, bluefish et al on tipped jigs worked over chum on first and second reef structure.

OFFSHORE

Ditto on weak tides out here. Pelagics continue repopulation of deep wrecks. Solid action on kings and cobia working live bait over chum. Red grouper action stays solid in 50-55' range working live pinfish tight to the bottom outcroppings on drift working west.
